Breeding season 2011

First of all, I would like to talk about the world championship in Tours, France.

For me this was the proud result of my work of the last years.

Thats' because I won no less than six medals on the world championships of the COM in Tours.

Twice gold, twice silver and twice bronze.

I won the world titels in the blue and single blue stock, the silver medals in the blue and single blue stocks as well and the bronze medals in the intensive and single intensive stocks.

These results contributed to my already great reputation in the Netherlands and beyond borders.

It attracted five newspapers, including the Telegraph and the Panorama magazine and other regional papers. I've also been on television at the L1 and TVL channels and a regional television channel.

I think it is going to be hard to match these results in the next years but who knows.

In Tours I also got a lot of attention and several lizard breeders wanted to chat and exchange knowledge and experiences and take a picture. I hardly had any time left for myself but I did appreciate all the attention.

As for the breeding, the first thing that struck me was the death of my world champion single blue bird, during breeding. Unfortunately I did not enjoy the beautiful bird for a long time, it got as many as 94 points at the exhibits.

Well, this year I started the breeding season with great confidence. I started by giving the birds the well known drop underneath their wings and a treatment for the breeding and in the middle of the breeding with Tylosine, something for the black spot. I must say I had little problems with the black spot.

The breeding went perfectly fine with the birds I used at the world championships, everything was fertilized except for a few but that's always the case with birds.

I have to say these were one of the best breeding results so far, compared to the last 25 years I am competing.

I started the breeding in the end of January and in the beginning of June I had 280 birds. Of course I lost a few of them, not every egg becomes a young bird.

It's July now and I put all the birds outside in the aviaries, the only thing remaining is the vaccination of the birds with a friend, which is soon going to happen.

That's my breeding-talk after a fantastic TT season!
