Just like last year, I started the breeding season right after the world championships. This time, the world championships were held in the Italian Piancenca and it was perfectly organized. I was accompanied by German people and my son and I have met several Italian colleagues. The fellow breeders were very hostile and I tried my best to talk to them with my broken English. I also visited a meeting over there, with European top breeders and inspectors, of course it was all about the Lizard. Unfortunatelly, this year I did not receive any medals but perhaps next year in Portugal I will do better. Regarding the breeding, I first gave the birds a drop of ANIMEC at the membrane on the bottom of the wings and did not spot any blood louse afterwards. Of course the young independent birds who go outside also receive a drop beneath their wings. This workd perfectly fine. In the beginning it all went well, but after a few weeks there were some bad puppets who were feeding badly, I don't know why, and some of them did not drop eggs anymore. Later on it all went better. Perhaps it had something to do with the bitter winter which made the birds suffer, as my birds always stay outside during winter time. But in the end it went better and I've got my rings filled again. Hopefully with some new champions! |
