Breeding season 2008

I started this breeding season a bit later than the last two years due to the unexpected continuation of the COM world championships in Hasselt, where I received a praiseworthy bronze medal with Gold Lizards. All four of them were puppets.

The breeding went excellent this year, with approximately 260 young birds, finishing around the end of May / beginning of June.

Again there were few birds with the dots, but not as many as before. Regarding the blood louse; I have not spotted them yet, but I took a lot more precautionary measures compared to previous years. With every new breeding, I brushed the sticks with a pesticide named Insecto Sec which I bought in Kassel (Germany), at the AZ show. Next to that, I used the Ardap spray. But most effective was probably a new pesticide I can recommend to all of you: Animec. You should use a cotton bud to put a drop under the burds wings (where you vaccinate the bird) and it will keep the bird from getting blood louse for 4 months.

Young birds who go outside of the voilleres get a drop. I hope I breaded some good birds again for the exhibitions, but I’m full of confidence and else you will see the results at the next bird exhibition.
